Summer in Australia brings a mixture of elements… at  times it is a season to relax; to take the foot off the pedal and coast for a  bit and recoup… at other times it is a new beginning; which causes us to  reflect on things gone by, and vision about things to come.  Spending some  time in the Book of Psalms allows us to do those things as well.  Some  Psalms are soothing and focus our attention on the rest we find in Jesus,  others look back and cause us to realise the foundation we have in our faith,  and yet others cast vision for the future.  Psalms are set in places of  comfort, unrest, danger, anguish and worship – as we take the opportunity to  lean into God’s Word through some of the Psalms written long ago we can start  the year from whatever place we may find ourself and focus our eyes on God.
